Installation
|
|
Without
Caller ID Unit:
- Connect 9VDC
power transformer to ICW (Internet Call Waiter). Plug transformer
into wall jack.
- Connect modem
to ICW jack labeled "MODEM".
- Connect telephone
line to ICW RJ11 plug.
- Installation
is complete.
Note: Production
units will use an RJ11 plug for the modem, and an RJ11 jack for the
telephone line.
With
Caller ID Unit
- Connect 9VDC
power transformer to ICW (Internet Call Waiter). Plug transformer
into wall jack.
- Connect modem
to ICW jack labeled "MODEM".
- Connect telephone
line to CLID unit's TELCO jack.
- Connect ICW
LINE plug to CLID unit's PHONE jack.
- Connect modem
to ICW MODEM jack.

Operation

Manual
Mode
- Set ICW switch
to MAN. When power is applied to the ICW, the OH (Off Hook) LED
will light momentarily.
- When the modem
goes off hook to connect to the Internet, the OH LED will turn on.
- The ICW will
wait 20 seconds after the modem goes off hook, before it can detect
incoming call waiting signals.
- While the modem
is connected to the Internet, and an incoming call is received,
the ICW will detect the call waiting and will sound the beeper twice
to announce the call.
- If a CLID unit
with Call Waiting is installed, the number and identity of the caller
will be displayed.
- To take the
call, press the CALL button on the ICW.
- This will disconnect
the modem from the line for 20 seconds, forcing it to hang up. The
OH LED will flash and a clicking sound will be heard from the ICW.
- All telephone
sets connected to the telephone line ahead of the ICW will now ring.
- You can answer
the call by picking up any telephone.
- To ignore the
call, do nothing and continue on the internet.

Automatic
Mode
- Set ICW switch
to AUTO. When power is applied to the ICW, the OH (Off Hook) LED
will light momentarily.
- When the modem
goes off hook to connect to the Internet, the OH LED will turn on.
- The ICW will
wait 20 seconds after the modem goes off hook, before it can detect
incoming call waiting signals.
- While the modem
is connected to the Internet, and an incoming call is received,
the ICW will detect the call waiting and will sound the beeper twice
to announce the call.
- If a CLID
unit with Call Waiting is installed, the number and identity of
the caller will be displayed.
- The ICW will
automatically disconnect the modem and allow the telephones to ring.
- Answer the
call by picking up any telephone set.
- In AUTO mode,
you cannot ignore the call waiting. The ICW will automatically announce
all calls.

Technical
note:
When the ICW detects
each SAS (Subscriber Alert Signal) tone, it automatically disconnects
the modem for 1.5 seconds. This allows the CLID Call Waiting unit
to handshake with the telephone company and receive the ID information.
